If i talk generally about the placements then, the placements depends upon the knowledge of the concepts acquired in your bachelor's and your college. The placements may go with packages as high as Rs 1.6 Crore and as low as Rs 2.5 Lacs Annually. The Highest being offered by IIT's and Tier 1 Colleges whereas Lowest or no placement from private colleges/universities.

You must have appeared for jee as your are an engineering aspirant. 

Depending on your jee marks try to get in NITs or IITs through jee advanced. Because once you get there the chnaces of placement in top companies with good packages are more as those are premium and best institute for engineering irrespective of any branch. 

But you being cs engineering student, chances for you even from any private universities are more compared to other branches as maximum companies try to get students in it sector as no of jobs are ample in this line. You can try for even few vitbest private engineering college like- 

• vellore, srm Chennai, thapar institute, amity university, bits pilani and many more. 

Even if you do from any other colleges, then your branch will give you many job opportunity even in off campus placement but your cgpa, skills and knowledge has to best in which department you have studied. 

At the end, companies look for skilled engineering's rather than an iit tag now a days.

its depends in college to colleges but if u are in CS or IT there is placement chances is more than other branches and also the package ( depends on clg to clg for sm company) is more than other branches package .. i think the reason behind it is in india we have good IT sectors and students ,foreign companies hire students at lost cost and gain more profits thatswhy the chances of placement is more in IT SECTOR !!
