To become a District Magistrate (DM) , you must clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination and get selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

• First, complete your graduation in any stream from a recognized university. The minimum age required is 21 years.
• The selection process includes three stages: Preliminary exam, Mains exam, and Interview.
• After selection as an IAS officer and gaining experience, you can be appointed as a DM.
• Strong communication skills, like those developed in English speaking classes, are very helpful for this career.
