Hi,

First of all you need to qualify UPSC IAS exam, and in order to qualify you need to apply for UPSC IAS first and prepare well. You must know that close to 5 lac candidates appear for UPSC IAS (Going by the trends of the last 3-4 years) and the vacancies are just 800-900, that too only the top 75-100 candidates according to the merit list are appointed as DM/Collector.

So you know its not that easy, but still if you work hard you can turn the tides.

Graduation for any discipline is the qualification you need to become an IAS officer. Apart from this, You need to qualify the UPSC Civil Services exam. UPSC CSE (prelims) is being conducted every year in the month of May/June. After qualifying Prelims, you will appear in the mains examination, and after which you will be called for an personality test (Interview) round.

Hello,

You need to have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institute by the Government of India in order to apply for the exam. In terms of age, you must be between 21 to 32 years of age to be eligible for the examination.

The educational qualification needed to appear in UPSC CSE is a degree (graduation) in any subject. Final year students can also apply.

The age limit :

The minimum age to appear for UPSC Civil Services Exam is 21 years. Upper age limit for General category is 32 years, for OBC it is 35 years while for SC/ST it is 37 years.

IAS Exam no. of Attempt:

The number of attempts permissible for a general category candidate in UPSC CSE is 6. For OBC candidates the number of attempts permitted it 9. SC/ST category candidates will have unlimited attempts till they attain the upper age limit to appear for UPSC CSE.
