Becoming a female officer in the Indian Navy requires fulfilling specific educational, physical, and eligibility criteria. Women can join the Indian Navy through various entry schemes:

1. Educational Qualifications

• Graduate Entries:

1. Short Service Commission (SSC) Officers: Women can apply for SSC in various branches like Executive, Education, and Naval Architect.
2. Technical Branch: Requires an engineering degree in specified streams like Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics.

• Postgraduate Entries: Education Branch students should be holding postgraduate qualifications from concerned stream.
• UPSC CDS Entrance : Women candidates can come into the Naval Academy with the help of Combined Defence Services Examination

2. Age

• Generally the age between 19-25years

3. Physical Standards

• Height and Weight: At least, the minimum height is about 152 cms and height-to-weight proportionate.
• Vis. : Std at the minimum 6/6 and in the worse, if two different eyes, to 6/9 Corrected with glasses.

4. Admission Modes

• Commission / Defence (Direct Entry Basis- Education and Naval Architects respectively: on marks)
• Selection procedure under SSB and appears through this centre.
• NCC SPECIAL ENTRY: For aspirant (with C certificate )
• Univ Entry Scheme or UES: For aspiring applicants appearing Pre- Final and Final terms Engg candidates

5. Training

• Selected candidates are trained at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala.

6. Documents Required

• Academic certificates
• Identity proof
• Medical fitness certificate
• NCC or other certificates if applicable
