Hello Apoorva! Students who want to upgrade there seats, when they get their desired upgradation then the previous seat will get vacant. So the seat from which student gets upgraded seat creates a vacancy, this is known as virtual vacancy.

Virtual seats are those seats which are occupied by the students who wish for an upgrade in seat. So if that student get those seats which the wanted then the previous seats get vacated. These vacated seats are then given to other students. So these seats from which the students transfer to an upgraded seat acreates a vacancy. This Vacancy is called Virtual vacancy.

Dear Apoorva  for example, if in Round 1, you have been allottex KGMC, Uttar Pradesh. You have joined the college but you also opt for Round 2 for a better college. So in a way you are vacating your seat for a better college but still holding on to it. This is called Virtual Vacancy. And this seat doesnt lie vacant until you get a seat in Round 2. But if there is another candidate who is applying for Roubd 2, he can see the seat in KGMC against his/her fresh choices and can select. So if you vacate KGMC because you got a better seat in Round 2, it would be given in the preference of choice and merit.
