Humanities is an academic principle that is concerned with the study of the condition of human beings. It can also be considered as another division of Social sciences. Almost all topics on humanities are offered at both the graduate and postgraduate level in universities and colleges in India. It is also possible for students to carry out research in the said area.

A pass in class 12 is the qualification required to join this course. Also a minimum of 17 years is a must.

Eligibility criteria



A graduate degree in the related field will enable students to pursue this course. They will also need to pass an entrance exam to get admitted into the course. Some of the institutes insist a minimum of 19 years of age.



Career Prospects



There are a lot of career opportunities available for candidates who have completed their studies in this field. There are also options abroad for the candidates in this profile. A career could be built in fields like teaching, Civil service, journalism, public relations and program planning. A few other fields where jobs are available are with NGO, liberal arts, anthropology and library science. It is also possible for students of humanities to get employed with museums, movie studios, galleries, magazines and newspapers. The remuneration of graduates will be based on the nature of their work and the field. The salary will also differ according to the university or college where the students have graduated. With experience the salary too will increase.
