Not so much but try that you do not get any backlog it gives you metal pressure and believe that it may affect you. And remain environment may not affect that much even today big company doesn't even care about it So need to worry. Ans enjoy your first year and also study a lit bit for the exam.

Need not to worry as its common to have backlogs in college while pursuing your btech degree.You just need to apply for re examination/supplementary exam,and clear it with four years.If you can't clear it during you btech tenure than it will create problems for you during placement hour and you will not be given a btech degrees.
