Term 2 is considered to be final exam. You must have pass in the exam. If you fail in term 2 exam. You considered to be failed for the whole year. But many of institutions give promotion / takes improvement exam for the subject, a candidate failed  . If you pass the improvement test/exam then you have chances to pass your academic.
