Biomedical Engineering is an important part of the engineering domain which deals with the study and application of concepts related to medicine and biology. Biomedical engineering program comprises study about tissue engineering, molecular or systems level biology, physiology and mathematics. Students get to study about biomedical electronics, quantitative and analytical skills required to interpret data acquired and processing of medical data including imaging and enhancement techniques.  Biomedical engineers use their expertise to assist practitioners like doctors and physicians in their healthcare practices.

Biomedical Engineering therefore has a lot of career prospects .Bioengineers are involved in the designing and construction of devices such as cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, artificial kidneys, blood oxygenators, prosthetic hearts, and joints.
