Hello,

Law program is of two types, first is integrated one based on 10+2 qualification for a duration of five years in many forms such as BA-LLB, BBA-LLB,BCom-LLB. Eligibility of integrated law program is having passed 10+2 from a recogized board with minimum 50% aggregate, there's relaxation of 5% in case of reserved category.

Some of the entrance exams conducted regarding this are

CLAT, conducted by NLUs and other private colleges
AILET, conducted by National Law University, Delhi
LSAT scores are accepted by many law schools such as Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat
SET, by Symbiosis Law Schools of Pune & Noida
CET of GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi which scores are accepted by 6 law schools including USL, LS and Amity Law School, Delhi
CUSAT Cochin for admission into School of Legal Studies, Cochin
Bharti Vidyapeeth Pune for admission into New Law College, Pune
CEE - Kerala, accepted by four government Law colleges of Kerala
Christ University ,Panjab University. Chandigarh ,AMU (Aligarh)
Jamia Milia, Delhi conduct their own entrance exams.

While the three year duration LLB is based on graduation degree, Eligibility Criteria is candidates needs to have passed Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with 45% marks, for reserved category it's 40%. Universities like DU & BHU require minimum 50% marks while Universities Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Meerut require merely 45% marks in graduation. Some of the entrance exams conducted regarding this are BHU UET, LAT by Allahabad University, DU LLB by Delhi University , LSAT scores are accepted by many top colleges etc.

In addition to all these, there are state level law exams conducted for admission to five year as well as three year law programs such as

TS LAWCET, conducted for admission into various law colleges in Telangana
AP LAWCET, conducted for admission into various law colleges in Andhra Pradesh
MAH CET LAW, conducted for admission into various law colleges in Maharasthra

Hi,

The key difference between 3 year and 5 year LLB program:

3-year LLB is a postgraduate programme. Scholars can pursue this course only after they have successfully completed their graduation.

5-year LLB is an integrated programme. This programme includes a graduate programme such as BA, BBA, B.Com etc. along with the core LLB degree.

Admission criteria for 3 year and 5 year LLB program:

For 3 year program:

Scholars must have passed graduation with at least 45% marks. Admission to most of the institutes is done on the basis of entrance exams such as the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

For 5 year program:

To take admission in this programme, aspirants must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks. Students willing to take admission will have to appear for exams like Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) etc.
