Hello,

National Institutes of Technology (formerly REC) are the premiere institutions for the education of engineering and technology in our country, second only to the coveted IITs.Therefore NITs are mainly technical institutions.Hence the emphasis on basic sciences at NITs or even IITs is very less as compared to engineering also known as applied sciences. Whereas, Central university is funded and controlled by central government. They are set up by an act of parliament.

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.
