JEE Main examination (formerly known as AIEEE) is an examination conducted by National Testing Agency in India for admission into various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the JEE-Main score, mainly National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs). It consists of two papers- Paper 1 (for B.E or B. Tech courses, 90 multiple-choice questions asked from PCM subjects to be completed in a span of 3 hours) & Paper 2 (for B.Arch and B.Planning, questions asked from Mathematics, Drawing and Aptitude test). From the year 2019, JEE Main is being conducted twice a year in computer-based mode.

JEE Advanced examination (formerly IIT-JEE Exam) is an academic examination held annually in India for admissions into IITs. It is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs every year. It is mandatory for a student to clear JEE Main in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced examination. The exam comprises of 2 papers of three-hour duration each with multiple choice questions.

So, it totally depends on the candidate whether he is aiming for NITs or IITs. The level of questions for both the papers is quite high. If you are an aspirant and aiming to clear JEE then start your preparation online with India's best online coaching, Etoosindia.
