Hey,

The OBC category is divided into two parts:

  1. Creamy layer OBC
  2. Non-creamy layer OBC (NCL)

The creamy layer is the one which is treated as normal general category since they are considered to be socially advanced. They do not enjoy the benefits of reservation and low cutoff in competitive examination.

The NCL OBC are the ones whose annual income is less than 4.5 lacs and are socially backwards. They get reservations and benefits in various examinations.

Hope this helps!

Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well.
According to the reservation policy, there are 2 categories in OBC:- OBC and OBC-NCL.
Normal OBC Category is the creamy layer OBC Category, which doesn't enjoy any type of reservation benefits and is treated equally to General Category student while OBC- NCL is the OBC Category with annual income less than 4.5 lakh which is really the reserved OBC Category and have reservations in the Competition exam and Jobs.
OBC-

Other Backward Classes (OBC) are socially and educationally backward classes in India. OBCs are distinct from Scheduled Classes (SC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST).

The Central Government of India maintains a list of castes/communities to be a considered as OBC.

NCL OBC-

  • If your parents are not directly recruited Class1 (Group A) or Class2 (GroupB) officers OR they do not occupy any constitutional posts (like that of President, Vice President, Governor etc) you are most likely to fall under Non-Creamy Layer OBC.
  • If your parents are not employed by the government, their income should be within the limits by the government to be treated as Non-Creamy Layer OBC.

i Hope it Helped
