What is different between NEET UG and NEET MDS

Neet ug is the entrance exam conducted for admission to mbbs and bds seats in various kedical colleges/universities of india..

While Neet MDS is the entrance exam for admission to mds(postgraduate) seats in various dental colleges of india.  It is given by those candidates who have bds degree with them.

NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test -UG) is an All India entrance exam conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) for admissions to MBBS/BDS Courses in India offered by Medical/Dental Colleges approved by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament.

NEET 2018 eligibility requirements:

Aspirants must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete the required age on or before Dec 31 of the year of his/her admission to the 1styear MBBS/BDS Course.

The upper age limit for the exam is 25 years on the exam date. A relaxation of 5 years for aspirants belonging to OBC/SC/ST category will be given.

Age criteria to appear for NEET (UG):

Unreserved category students: On or between May 7, 1993 to Jan 1, 2002SC/ST/OBC category students: May 7, 1988 and Jan 1, 2002

Number of attempts:

The number of attempts which an aspirant can avail will be limited to 3 (three) uniformly to all the candidates. Appearance in NEET-2018 will be counted as first attempt.Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG)-2018.


NEET-MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination to various Post Graduate MDS Courses under Dentists Act, 1948.NEET-MDS is a single window entrance examination for Dental PG courses. No other entrance examination, either at state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to MDS Courses as per Dentists Act, 1948.



NEET MDS eligibility criteria states that it is mandatory for applicants to possess a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree or a provisional pass certificate in BDS from an Indian university/dental college recognized by GoI (Government of India) as per Dentist Act 1948 or they must possess an equivalent qualification recognized by DCI (Dental Council of India). Candidates must ensure that the dental college they have completed their BDS degrees from, has got recognition from GoI under Dental Act 1948
