I have not basic information about that but
I know that now gate examination is must to get
B Tech degree. And this is a one day exam in which 25 Question are from GK and GS.
Whithout qualifying gate you can't get admission in
M Tech collages.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance examination for doing M.techs in IITs NITS and there are many colleges which accepts gate score
in order to do GAte examination you should first complete your engineering and give the examination as per your course and if you qualify you can do M>techs in very good colleges.
The other advantages of gate exam is you can work in PSUs LIKe BHEL,BSNL.. etc if your GAte scores are GOOD.
