What is Gate syllabus for metallugy ?

  • First go through all these lecture videos on Material Science & Engineering.
  • Then read Physical Metallurgy by Vijender Singh only after completing the lecture videos on Material Science. If you are short on time then just read “Dislocation” and “Heat Treatment” chapters from it. Note that the equations for heterogeneous nucleation is wrong in this book, so verify this formula from other books.

Now, thoroughly read Mechanical Metallurgy by George E. Dieter (Make sure you have read Dislocation chapter properly from Vijender Singh otherwise you won't be able to understand Deiter). Here you also need to cover Plastic Forming of Metals part (forging, rolling, extrusion, etc) according to the topics mentioned in Manufacturing part of GATE Syllabus,. So this is just to bring you information and resources could be found on the internet.
