So what exactly is LATERAL ENTRY?

A student who has his/her diploma in an engineering field from a government recognized institute is entitled for a lateral entry directly into 2nd year or 3rd semester. All major universities/institutions have this provision and the admission is done through a common entrance test or based on your aggregate diploma percentage.

Only a few seats will be made available in the university for the lateral entry students. There are various quotas such as a)All India quota b)ST quota c)PWD quota d)Defense Quota e)State quota

The fees for the entire bachelors degree course will be for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year.

The university/institute entrance test for lateral entry are generally conducted in the months between February and July

As a lateral entry admit you will be batched along with the second year students and will not be treated differently whatsoever.

Your admission into the university/institute will be merit basedthat is, it'll depend upon how well you've performed at the entrance test OR how lofty is your aggregate diploma percentage.
