There is of ofcourse competition in any competitive exam but you only require one seat  and you have as much of a chance of getting in like any other candidate. If you are planning to give the exam I would advise you to be thorough with the basics of the language and countries to which the language belongs. They don't expect you to know everything in the language and give the test as you will be learning the language. Anyhow make sure you are prepared thoroughly. All the best.
