What is main criteria for getting stipend in m.tech through gate in iits

Hi  girivardhan, hope you are doing well, from the gate score  you will only get selected into iits with low fees based on your rank but stipend/scholarship you need to get it by your merit basis. The stipend will be given on your grade in semesters and it varies from one iit to another. The average stipend is about 1 lakh.

I came to know that to encourage higher studies the government if India will give 12.5 k per month for the students who does m.tech through gate. Is this information correct??

yes, I too heard about the governments help regarding higher studies but it is not implemented in a correct way till today, so I don't think so you will be getting help from the government but you can surely apply for various government scholarships.I think it helps you:)
