Hello!

Metallurgy is a field that deals with physical and chemical properties of metallic elements. Metallurgical engineers develop ways of processing metals and converting them into useful products. Their job role is very similar to that of metallurgical scientists. Metallurgy have further subdivisions too.

Even Google CEO MR Sundar Pitchai did his bachelors in metallurgy.

ALL THE BEST. Hope you got some idea.

Thank You

Hii,

Metallurgy is a domain of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements , their inter-metallic compounds, and their mixtures, which are called alloys.

Therefore, Metallurgical engineers focus on the production of metals, metallic parts and the properties of those materials .

Metallurgical engineers help make products stronger, more durable, lighter weight and more energy efficient, especially when utilizing recycled materials rather than ores.

Metallurgical engineers have opportunities both in India and abroad.

They can be hired by public sector companies like DRDO, ISRO and Indian Railway.

Professionals in this career can also opt for teaching jobs in universities and colleges.

There are many sub divisions of metallurgical engineering which are as follows

  1. Physical metallurgy
  2. Extractive metallurgy
  3. Mineral processing
