You can't compare both these exams. The pattern of Quant and English is almost same but to get into IIFT you needed to have a grip on GK / History.  It consists mostly of business GK and one has to be on top of current events - business & political.

 

IIFT has tough competition than CAT as number no seats are less. So, percentile goes up. 

Both the exams are very similar to each other and one cannot easily differentiate between the difficulty level of both the exams. Preparation for CAT will easily prepare you for the IIFT entrance exam. The only difference they have is in the pattern of exam.

The one difference is that IIFT requires a timing strategy as their are individual cutoffs for different sections and one cannot afford to score high in one section and low in the other. CAT has fixed time slots for each of the section and thus the server handles the timing part for you.

The RCs in the IIFT exam have questions that are more fact based whereas in the CAT, the RCs are a mix of both inference based and fact based. Also, there is a slightly more focus on vocab in IIFT as compared to the CAT exam.

The Quant is more or less the same in both the CAT and IIFT exam. Although the DI-LR in IIFT is much more calculation intensive and a faster calculation speed will certainly help in cracking this section.

Also, IIFT has a GK section as well and it tests your basic GK. It doesn't require any special preparation and can be cracked by anyone who stays in touch with the latest happenings around the world.
