Located in a 7 acre campus at the heart of South Delhi.Within 5kms from Hauz Khas Metro Station and less than a km from Mehrauli. Students undergo a 8-9 week long full time summer internship experience as a part of corporate exposure. Companies offering summer internship opportunities include Goldman Sachs, ITC, Godrej, Shell, JPMC, Axis Bank,ICICI Bank, various companies of the Tata and Birla Group and more. I myself interned with the forex and trade finance department of Axis Bank in the summers. The fact that students are expected to invest equally in academics, corporate competitions and extra - curricular activities enhances the overall campus experience beside ensuring holistic individual development.

Indian Institute of Foreign The is a good MBA choice. It offers IB in all the specializations and this helps in the global view of any specialization like finance or marketing or operations or trade. Trade is one very niche specialization which is rarely offered in any other b school. The lecturers here have a lot of industry knowledge as they have all worked in their subject-specific industries and hence being in the practical perspective. It is a very good place for finance aspirants as well. Also, as discussed above, it is the only good college in India offering specialization in trade in MBA. Looking at the infra, it has all the infra from the close point of view. But the sports infra can be a drawback which IIFT should improve upon in future. The quality of the peer group is excellent. The place makes you learn more than classes. It teaches you the management in real life as an experience. Specializations can choosen by the students after the first year. Is their choice and there is no limit for a maximum number of people taking a specialization unlike in some other colleges... it also offers specialization in strategy and consulting apart from finance, marketing, operations, trade. That's IIFT. You can look for it if you find it as the best fit for you.

-As far as infrastructure is the concerned level road at some places, better maintenance of the gardens, improved and maintained playgrounds, clean hostel and other areas at the back of the college, better laundry system, I think these are the things that need to be taken care of. -To improve industry exposure we can have field visits and more coordination between the academics and the corporate world, in terms of industry practices, what else can be taught in classrooms, guest lectures as a part of academics. -Friends. -My expectations from the hostels- cleanliness, at least 2 cupboards in every room, clean water in the tap. -Good teachers overall. The teaching methods could be more interactive, not only in terms of teachers asking questions and students giving answers, but more class based activities. -Student crowd is great in terms of intellect -Food available all the time (breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, night canteen and a cafeteria); books provided by the college (although I think it is not necessary, students could borrow books from seniors or buy any if need be; that way saving books and paper from being wasted)

The most important barometer of measuring the worth of any MBA college is the kind of corporates it can get on campus. In this regard, IIFT is a cut above the rest in its class as no student is left behind and a reasonable floor is established as to the quality of the companies. Both the Finance and Marketing domain attract companies of high repute such as Goldman Sachs, JPMC, Nomura, Axis Bank etc in Finance and FMCGs like ITC, Britannia, Loreal, GCPL amongst others. The E-commerce sector has also been a substantial recruiter with companies like Flipkart and eBay featuring prominently. The consulting domain has featured players like GeP, CBC, CEB etc. Operations are one area where IIFT has some catching up to do. But the Trade domain more than makes up for it as all the top Trade companies give IIFTians preference. The faculty consists of a lively mixture of career academicians and industry professionals. A lot of professors, especially in the Trade domain, have been involved in policy making in government and bring a unique perspective to their teaching. The hostels are not as great as you might expect from a top 10 college but the parties get wild and campus life is awesome on the whole. Many corporates open their competitions to the college and the help from seniors and faculty members is an essential factor in IIFT's high level of performance. Come to IIFT if you want a good placement and a great learning curve.

Even though there is a lack of infrastructure that dampens the experience, it is one of the most beautiful and calm places in the heart of Delhi. Flanked by a forest on one side, and the amazing dhabhas around it, college life is one that you wouldn't want to miss. The brilliant placements, faculty and the varied extra-curricular activities make IIFT one of the go-to bschools in the country. The international business and trade edge gives IIFT students a holistic experience.

About College:

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was established in the year 1963 in New Delhi. It was the brainchild of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to establish an institute which will cater to the professional management of the country’s foreign trade. In 2002, IIFT was conferred the status of a deemed university, which means that the institute is now able to award its own MBA degrees and not be reliant on any diploma as is the norm elsewhere for standalone institutes. The flagship programme is the MBA- IB (International Business).

The IIFT does not select students via the CAT, MAT or XAT exams as is the norm for most management institutions across the country. Instead, the institute conducts its own entrance test. One key differentiating factor to this test is the presence of an additional section- General Knowledge (GK). This section is missing in the CAT, and is often the deciding factor, as here it is part of the cut-off. Once the results are declared, students are called up for the next round which involves a Personal Interview (PI), a WAT (Written Ability Test) and a GD (Group Discussion). IIFT also has a thriving 7- acre campus in Kolkata. Another full- fledged campus has been opened in the town of Kakinada in the state of Andhra Pradesh. An extension centre also runs in Guwahati only for the purpose of certificate programmes in the field of Export Management. Further, it has an international campus in Dar-es-Salaam, which is the capital of the East African nation of Tanzania. A second international centre runs in Dubai, where the only course functioning is the Executive MBA for working professionals. A three- year part time programme and doctoral programmes may also be pursued by students at the Delhi and the Kolkata centres. IIFT’s MDPs (Management Development Programmes) are extremely famous, with training having been imparted to professionals from more than thirty countries.

Besides the core academics, the IIFT has long been renowned for its research prowess. To this end, it has developed specific centres. There are Centres at IIFT for- WTO (World Trade Organization) Studies, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Studies and for International Trade in Technology. In addition, IIFT has also undertaken research projects with the likes of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the WTO, World Bank and the UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development).

Due to the international mandate of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, right from day one there has been a constant move to forge collaborative ties with foreign institutions. This is facilitated by one of the cells within the institute, known as the ICCD (International Centre for Career Development). Some of those universities with which such ties exist include- International Institute of Business Networking (IIBN) in St. Petersburg (Russia), Florida International University (USA), University of Bradford (UK), Ajou University (Suwon, South Korea), Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (Dhaka), Bradley University (Illinois, USA), Brock University (Ontario, Canada), ESC Rennes (France), Foreign Trade Training Centre (Cairo, Egypt), Foreign Trade University (Hanoi, Vietnam), Grenoble School of Management (France), Hanken University (Finland), International Institute for Trade & Development (Thailand), International University (Geneva, Switzerland), University of Newcastle (NSW, Australia) and several others. Germany, Italy, Spain and China are some other countries with whose institutes certain deals have been signed.

The IIFT is also a part of several international recognitions or accreditations. Examples of the same include- Academy of International Business (AIB), European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD, Brussels) and the IATTO (International Association of Trade Training Organisations- UK). All this has led to extremely favourable rankings being received across platforms. In the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) 2018, IIFT was ranked 23rd among management education providers. The Business Standard newspaper has also validated it with a “Super League 1” category mention.

This has further led to extremely positive a brand image with recruiters. Some of the key recruiters in recent seasons have been the likes of – PepsiCo, ITC, Dabur, Shell, Titan, Marico, JP Morgan, Citibank, ICICI Bank, RPG, Wipro, GE, YES Bank, Axis Bank, Airtel, Amazon, Godrej, Vodafone, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, CEB, Boston Scientific, CRISIL, EXL, Infosys, Adani, Shapoorji Pallonji, Lava, Dell, OYO, IDFC, Clock Labs, TCS, HP, DBS,  Britannia, Raymond, Aditya Birla Group, Capgemini, Deloitte, PwC, Google, Decathlon, Gartner, Olam, Sterlite Power, Mother Dairy, Hero, TVS, Maruti Suzuki, Nomura, Maersk, JSW, Flipkart, Eicher, Tata Sky, Murugappa and many others.

A lot takes place at the campus beyond merely academics. A strong corporate connect is forged through the Head start Thought Leadership Series, where top speakers are invited from the industry. There are several student clubs and committees as well. The clubs are known by the names of Capital, Brandwagon, Socrates, Op Sigma, Systemix and BLASH for the purposes of finance, marketing, consulting & strategy, operations, systems and trade respectively. Several annual events also take place here, including a local chapter of TEDx.
