Im a electronics engineering student , so the scope of electronics engineering compared to other engineering fields is quite low in india , the computer and information technology  engineering students gets better placements .

As far as electronics engineering students are concerned  , to get into a core company is quite difficult, it surely depends upon your knowledge and your desire to be in it . If you want to get into a core company , then you should surely do  electronics  engineering from a reputed institute .
Do not do it from a decent institute as it may give you ultimately  problems while placements in any company.

Hey Vaishali, As a matter of fact most of the campus recruiters take both ECE and EEE candidates.But it requires both skill and knowledge to get a good job with a good package.By evolution of computer technology ECE has transformed and became mandatory source for any industry.So wherever you there's a need for electrical/electronic technician. Coming to job opportunities you have both government sector and private sector to work and build your career.
Here are some government firms which take electronic candidates:

• INDIAN NAVY
• HAL
• RAILWAYS
• DRDO
• ISRO
• ECIL
• BSNL

You can get into these through GATE  to get into PSUs
And there are many private sectors which offer jobs for this discipline.
Apart from this you can pursue your masters in the area of your interest to get a better understanding of what you have learnt in your B.tech
