Citizens having annual income less than Rs.1 lakh and who do not belong to any disadvantaged social category such as Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST) [1] (http://www.arthapedia.in/index.php?title=Economically_Backward_Classes_(EBCs)#ref1) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) [2] (http://www.arthapedia.in/index.php?title=Economically_Backward_Classes_(EBCs)#ref2) have been categorised as Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) in India.

These classes are provided with free seats and in some cases with reimbursement of fees.
