Dear Aspirant,

CLAT, also known as the Common Law Admission Test will be held on May 10, 2020. The paper will be a two hour paper in the offline mode, i.e., a pen-paper test will have multiple-choice questions. The number of questions for BA LLB will be 150 in number and total marks will also be 150. Therefore, each correct answer will fetch you 1 mark and each there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

There will be 5 sections in the paper:

  1. English (Comprehension and Grammar) with around 28 to 32 questions and a weightage of 20%
  2. Legal Aptitude with around 35 to 39 questions and a weightage of 25%
  3. Logical Reasoning with around 35 to 39 questions and a weightage of 25%
  4. Elementary Mathematics (Including Numerical Ability) with around 28 to 32 questions and a weightage of 20%
  5. General Knowledge and Current Affairs with around 35 to 39 questions and a weightage of 25%

Knowing this will make will help with your speed for the exam and will also save time while writing it. To get more prepared regarding the exam pattern and the exam as a whole, check previous year question papers. There have been changes in the paper pattern which include a change in the number of questions from 200 to 150 and addition of comprehension-based questions in English and other sections like Deductive Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques, Current Affairs and Logical Reasoning as well. Due to this, your inferential reasoning will be thoroughly tested as part of the course. The quantitative aptitude required is that of 10th class. The minimum cut off for the paper is 40%.

Hope this helps. All the best!
