These plains run parallel to the Himalayan mountain range, spanning from Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the west to Assam in the east, covering much of Northern and Eastern India. Within these plains, the Ganga plains specifically extend across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. In these states, the predominant method of irrigation is the tube well system.
