Hello,

The tendency of individuals to resemble their progenitors is called heredity.

Genetic Inheritance is the basic principle of genetics which explains how characteristics are transferred from one generation to next.

Genetic inheritance occurs due to the transfer of genetic material in form of DNA from one individual to other. When organisms reproduce, the information o growth, survival, etc. is found in the DNA passed from parent's generation.

In sexual reproduction, the genetic material of two parents are transferred individually, but the offspring receives a combination of genetic materials of two parents.

In asexual reproduction, this process is known as mitosis.

Best Wishes.

Hello Adesh

In the most fundamental level, when the genes are passed from the parents to the offspring, the offspring would inherit certain traits from the parents.

It was first established by George Mendel by his experiment on peas.

This process of inheritance that is due the gene passed from parents to offsprings is called genetic basis of inheritance.

Hope it helps
