During the Han dynasty, the Chinese Minister for Agriculture Tsai Lun invents the idea of making paper from old linen rags.
In 1031: In Japan, new paper is made from recycled paper for the first time in the history of humanity.

In 1690: The first Recycled paper company, The Rittenhouse Mill, is founded in Philadelphia.
Americas first paper mill built by German-born William Rittenhouse (Wilhelm Rittenhausen) took old fabrics, cloths, cotton and linen to produce recycled paper that would be used for printing and publication. The mill operated until the mid 1800s, and was the Rittenhouse family industry for the better part of a century.

The process of deinking paper was patented in the early 1800's by Englishman Mattias Koops. His methods of deinking and using wood materials to produce paper were widely acepted and encouraged a new ear in papermaking
After the world war 2 outbreaked, 1993 was the first year in history in which more paper was recycled than was buried in landfills.


Now, we've made great advancement in today's modern world to reduce paper usage with technology and recycling efforts. And we recycle paper using modern machines that are computer operated in industries
