Open states in AIQ means: You can apply for Government and Private medical and dental Colleges suitable as per your marks, rank and category through their State counselling without having the domicile certificate for their respective states. Of course to grab a seat in top colleges through 15% AIQ is more difficult than that of 85% Hone State quota, because the minimum qualifying marks in AIQ is comparatively much higher than state qouta.

There are 13 open states participating in AIQ: Karnataka, West Bengal, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,Bihar,Assam, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan/Haryana.
