Hello aspirant,
A position in an open category is open to all applicants. Whenever a reservation is made, a portion of the seats are held for the reserved category (such as SC/ST/OBC) and a portion are held for the open category (which is open to all applicants, regardless of their status). Social status and caste have no bearing in an open category.
