Hi Pratyush, 

The percentage required in higher secondary examination to be eligible for NIT is 75% for general category students.

In case of SC/ST students, the percentage is reduced from 75% to 65 % to be eligible for the NITs.

Or, you have to be in the top 20 percentile of your board of education to be eligible for the NIT.
