I got 8.9% in jee advanced according to the answer key, what are my chances of getting a preparatory course in the various iit's(whose cutoff is 8.75%)?

Cut offs marks for ST Category for the year 2017 was 64. The chances of your admission seems to be less. Rest you can wait for the cut offs. As an other alternative you can apply for the other colleges with this score. You will surely get some good colleges.

Yes, sir I know that I am not eligible for direct admission as a regular 1st year student, however according to my research those students who get above 8.75% from st/sc category stand a chance to undertake a "one year preparatory course" in the various iit's, after one year there will be a qualifying exam, qualifying which I could pursue my studies at one of the iit's as a regular 1st year student.However the information regarding the "counselling procedure" for this course is unclear to me as the information given on the internet is very scattered.So could you provide me with some detailed information about this course.I also wanted to know if I am going to get this course on the basis of scoring 8.89%(which is above the preparatory cutoff marks of 8.75%- as mentioned in the iit kanpur information bronchure).I would be so grateful if you could help.
