Scope of Agricultural and Food Engineering

The demand for agricultural and food engineers is expected to grow at the rate of 4% from 2014 to 2024. The need to protect our environment, combat climate change, and global warming, increase agriculture production will surely go a long way in absorbing this new workforce. Those having completed their Bachelor's and Master's degree in Agricultural and Food Engineering will have an opportunity to work in various government departments at the state level. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has planned to set up ten more Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE) with an aim to expedite the level of pre and post-agricultural mechanization. The ICAR is also mulling to establish 200 Farm Machinery Operation cum Maintenance Training Centres with an aim to empower the youth and give thrust to entrepreneurship.
