GL rank is your rank amongst the girls in exam and yes it will definitely help you get a admission in colleges which you might have not made the cut to if your general rank was to be considered. This is because there is girl's quota in Uttar Pradesh and that too about 20% which is a good amount. Allotment is done keeping these quotas in consideration.
