• Remote and Under Privileged States/UT (UPS) is a reservation category in ICAR.
• 2% seats under each discipline are  reserved, across categories for the

candidates of the remote and under privileged States/UTs namely (i) Andaman & Nicobar Island,
(ii) Arunachal Pradesh, (iii) Dadra and Nagar Haveli, (iv) Daman & Diu, (v) Goa, (vi) Lakshadweep,
(vii) Manipur, (viii) Meghalaya, (ix) Mizoram, (x) Nagaland, (xi) Sikkim (xii) Tripura and (xiii) Ladakh
where educational facilities in Agriculture and Allied Science subjects  do not exist  .
UPS candidates will have to produce domicile
certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of admission.

Dear student,

UPS means Under Privileged State.

ICAR has made a provision of special UPS category seats for such students or candidates, who do not have any state agricultural university (like for North East parts ).

Usually, each state has established atleast one state agricultural university, in which 85% seats in undergraduate course and 75% seats of post graduate course are meant for the state domiciles.
Now, the candidates belonging from state which for have their own not have any state agricultural university didn't get seats.
Therefore in icar there is a special reservation of UPS candidates or UPS category seats.
