As you want to become IAS, then you must go for BA as BA comprises many subjects which is similar to syllabus of IAS exams.. Whereas in B.Sc,  you cannot find any relation with the IAS exams as well as it will become  tough for you to manage BSc along with IAS preparation. However, you can prepare for IAS exam as well as can study BA parallely.

Best of luck!

I think B.A will be a suitable option.

Hello,

If youre a school student having the main aim of joining Civil Services, then B.A will be the best for you.

Youll get the UG degree in a short span of3 yearsand then you can appear for the exams. The early bird gets the worm.

Going for a engineering degree is not suggested because, it will take 4 years and in most cases a year of drop after 12th just to join government college.

So, it is basically a total of5 years. It better to go for any 3 year UG course and prepare for UPSC with full power. To sum up, there is no best or worst degree or discipline for pursuing a career in the higher civil services like the IAS or IPS at a later stage.

Cheers !!

It only depends upon your choice of subjects.. generally it has been observed that the maximum number of aspirants who get selected in ias are from BA background..

But dont go with that.. i have seen many people who cleared the ias exam with having Bsc ..

So think which one you can handle and just go with that which suits you.. you can consult your parents, teachers, friends, seniors for help regarding this matter....

Good luck..

You just need to be a graduate in order to become IAS. It doesn't matter whether B.A. or B.Sc. But, personally I would recommend to opt for B.A. because it's easier and therefore you can devote more time for UPSC preparations. Choose wisely.

Good luck.

You can do both b.a or b.sc

Prepare for UPSC exam to become IAS officer

Learn the exam pattern, join some institution for planning and guidance

Hi

There so no rule that you have to choose BSc only or BA only, you can do any degree for that matter to be eligible for taking UPSC exam, but for becoming IAS officer you need to prepare for UPSC exam.

All the best

Well, these two B.A and BSc. has no correlation with IAS.

You need to appear in UPSC to be an IAS officer. So, start preparing for upsc.

Good luck

Respected Sir/ Mam,

It quite doesn't matter as your end goal is IAS. It's totally upon your interest .  For IAS , I would request you to begin preparations for UPSC . For further info on UPSC kindly visit the below attested link.

Hope I was able to solve your query.

Thank you.

I would suggest you to decide first which subject you should take as per your interest, You should follow your interest for it. The degree can be obtained in any stream recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC).
For example If you have an interest for Indian Polity, you may take BA Political Science and take up classes for Public Administration for the UPSC competitive exam.

UPSC civil services examination needs a complete hold over General Studies papers which are classified under four parts, GS I, GS II, GS III and  GS IV. Each of the GS papers have different subjects within them. Basically, these GS subjects are the papers of Economics, History, Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biodiversity, etc. To check the exam eligibility you can go through with the given below link.

Good Luck!
