In the all India and other College entrance examinations, CRL stands for common rank list which tells you where you stand among all the other applicants, irrespective of your category. 

EWS in general category is a category for all the general category students from the economically weaker section. This gives them an upper edge as a seperate rank list is made for this category and also the qualifying cut off marks for the students of this category are low.
