When you are getting admission in any college then you have to produce your certificate like class 10th certificate, class 12 certificate, Admit card of entrance examination given, if any , Migration certificate, Character certificate, reservation certificate if any and other relevant documents needed.

It is required by the college authority to check validity of your eligibility and of what you are claiming. Hence you should produce your certificate to them. They themselves will return your certificate after verification is over.
