                Look jee mains and jee advance is considered to be one of the top enterance exams for admission to top engineering colleges in India (NIT&IIT) 

     Every year lakhs of students sit for this exam and only the required number is selected based on no. of seats and then setting the cutoff.....     

 Paper for Jee advance this year was set to 186 marks  and was  considered tougher..........

   Determining cutoff for any exam is always  based on students performance and total no. of seats available. 

   From students analysis for jee advance cutoff for general category maybe around 35% of total marks..... this may vary... but the difference will not be quite huge... 

 Also if you are able to score more marks than cutoff you will be eligible to sit for counselling for getting admission  in IIT'S  around the country but getting a seat in any of the IIT'S around the country will be based on the field applied (like computer science, IT, civil engineering etc.) and the overall merit list.

This year's JEE advanced was among the toughest in past 3 years and possibly going with the trend, this year's cutoff will be much lower for all the categories than the previous year. Last year's general category cutoff for JEE Advanced was 126 marks (aggregate). So you can expect the cutoff to be around 110-115 marks for general category considering the difficulty level of the exam this year.

The negative marks for the more than one correct answer type had been reduced to -1 which was earlier -2.But lady year the paper was a bit easier for physics and difficult for the chemistry.Hence as this year the paper is moderate the chances for the cut off to decrease are more.In case you get more marks than the cut off,you will be allowed to go to the counseling and you will get an admission into an IIT.
