Don't Miss: NEET PG One on One Counselling and Admission Guidance
Hello Arshiya,Greetings! The reservation under NEET PG is dependent on a variety of factors. DGHS is the prime authority responsible for framing reservation criteria of NEET PG Counselling. Apart from DGHS, Army Medical Institutions and States follow their own reservation clauses and are responsible for releasing their own reservation details for the medical institutions.According to the Counselling by DGHS, the reservation criteria is:Category Seats Reserved (Percentage)Scheduled Caste 15%Scheduled Tribe 7.5%OBC (Non-creamy layer) 27%Physically handicapped 3%Note:There is no reservation of seats for candidates from OBC-Creamy layer. The official notification released by National Board of Examinations for NEET PG 2019 states that 27% seats shall be reserved for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Institutions, in accordance with the provisions of Central Educational Institutions (Reservations in Admission) Act, 2006. Reservation would be applicable to the castes mentioned in the Central list of OBC Candidates from creamy layer and those who do not come under Central List of OBC are advised to mention their category as Unreserved.Recently, the income criteria for determining the creamy layer of OBCs was revised with the limit of annual income of Rs. 6.00 lakhs being raised to Rs. 8.00 lakhs. The application of reservation is subjected to the updation of Central list of OBC Candidates. There are high chances that OBCs with 8.00 lakhs and above will be now categorised under the creamy layer, which does not come under the reservation policy. However, there is no official clarification as of now. Further, in order to avoid any discrepancy, it is advisable to have a valid OBC certificate to be produced during the time of counselling.Hope you find this information useful. In case of any doubts, feel free to raise more queries, we will be happy to assist you.All the best for your future endeavours!
