Hello,

The Central Government of India set up a body called UGC - University Grants Commission.

This UGC is responsible to determine and maintain standards of the higher education in Universities/Colleges. Accordingly, colleges which meet the laid criteria, endorse themselves as UGC Approved / Government Approved.

You can check this list for Engineering Colleges:

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hi Shruti,

There is no term like government approved College. Yes, some government bodies like UGC and NBA give approval to colleges. These bodies inspect a particular college and finds that if that college is having all the facilities and infrastructure as the standard decided by them or not. If the body finds a particular college to be fulfilling all the standards than that particular college is given the approval by UGC or NBA.

Feel free to ask doubts in the Comment Section.

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck
