The writing and speaking sections of the IELTS test are scored based on 4 criteria/areas such as the following.

  • Fluency and coherence

  • Lexical resource

  • Grammatical range and accuracy

  • Pronunciation

The other two listening and reading sections of the IELTS test have 40 questions each. Every question in these sections is given 1 mark for each right answer.
