Hello aspirant,

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course is a diploma program that prepares students for careers in nursing. The following is a summary of the GNM application and admissions process:

1. Typically, candidates must have finished 10+2 (more Secondary) education from a recognised board with a minimum percentage (typically 40% or more) in disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or English.

2. Typically, the individual should be between the ages of 17 and 35.

3. Some nursing colleges/institutions require candidates to take an admission exam, which may assess knowledge in topics such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and General Knowledge.

4. Some institutes provide direct admission based on qualifying exam scores (12th grade). Many nursing programs admit students based on their 12th-grade exam scores.

5. Admissions to GNM courses typically open in May-June each year, following the release of 12th-grade results. The application process normally begins in May or June and may continue until July. The exact dates are determined by the institution or the state nursing council.

6. Many Indian states have their own nursing councils, which oversee admittance. The state councils may hold an entrance exam for GNM admissions, and applications are accepted via the appropriate websites.

7. Colleges/Universities: Some universities and private nursing colleges hold their own entrance tests for GNM programs. For further information on admission criteria and processes, visit the respective college's website.

8. Admission notices are normally sent out between April and May and entrance exams, if any, are typically administered between June and July.

Hello Gurveer,

Admission to the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program typically requires candidates to have completed their 10+2 education with a minimum aggregate of 40%, with English as a subject. Some states and institutions may conduct entrance exams for admission, while others may offer admission based on merit.

The admission process usually begins around September , but exact dates can vary by state and institution. It’s advisable to check the specific admission notifications of the institutions or state nursing councils for precise dates and requirements.
