The admissions for 12th pass out can be from CUET (Common University Entrance Test) and on merit basis. Under CUET, there are many central universities which take admission only on the score secured int CUET. Universities including, University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Ambedkar University, Aligarh Muslim University, Guru Gobind Singh University, University of Calcutta and many more.

Universities and colleges which do not require CUET give admissions either on merit basis or their own entrance test. St. Andrew's, Fergusson College, Presidency College, Bethune College give admissions on merit basis.
