Counselling for NIT will start after the declaration of the second session  JEE mains result.The result for first session will declared on 31st January 2020 and the result for second session will be declared on 30th April.

And the counselling will start from June 2020.The final dates are not declared yet.

As you have asked about when will the counselling for NIT will start, so dear student joint seat allocation authority is conducting body of JEE mains 2020 counselling and seat allotment process will be held in online mode only.  the counselling in seat allotment of JEE mains 2020 will be conducted by joint seat allocation authority and the predicted dates for it is from June 15 to the last week of July. candidates have to register on the official website of the joint seat allocation authority to participate in JEE mains counselling and seat allotment 2020. The counselling of NIT will be started after the JEE advanced result. The counselling of NIT is conducted by jossa. It has his own official website. It is responsible for alloting student sheet as per their rank. After JEE advanced result stick to Jossa website for regular updates.
