As per the rules and my research YES th compartment pass students are eligible for taking admission in NITS, it's just that during the verification you must have your passing certificate.

And yes, your class 12th marks are important for taking admission in NITS but there is a relaxation that the students who have taken boards this year i.e, 2020 they only need to secure passing marks in all the subjects for taking admission in NITS.
