HSC books are nowhere suitable for jee preparation.
For JEE Mains, Ncert books are strongky recommended
But for JEE advanced books by authors like IE Irodov for physics OP Tandon for chemistry , RD sharma for mathematics are also required.

Moreover, ample mock exams shoukd be given to get an idea of your mistakes and weak areas.

You shoukd also have strong basic fundamental from class 12th to score well in JEE exams.

Hello,
Most of the experts suggests that NCERT is the best book for preparation of jee mains and i totally agree on it.You can solve ncert books first but after completing it you need to practice other books as well to score good marks in it like HC VERMA,RD SHARMA,SL LONEY,OP TONDON,ARIHANT,etc.
For jee advanced you need to have focus much on other books than ncert as questions are of difficult level when compared to jee mains.
