Artificial intelligence is the area in computer sciences that focuses on developing machines that react like humans and make decisions.
Currently ,It is one of the most important trend in Computer science. To study Artificial Intelligence ,one.must do an undergraduate degree in engineering or in computer science and then go for further specialization in Artificial Intelligence.

On the other hand, machine learning is considered a subset of artificial intelligence. It is the study of algorithms and statistical models and use it to enable a computer system to perform a specific task without explicit instructions but rely on patterns.

So far ,there is no particular College in Assam or Meghalaya that offers undergraduate degree on Artificial Intelligence or machine learning.
To study Artificial Intelligence and machine learning , you must have a background in Computer science. And to specialise in these two fields ,it is best to do an M.Tech .
As such ,the top colleges in Assam and Meghalaya for learning artificial intelligence and machine learning are given below :

* Indian Institute of Technology ,Assam
It is one of the top Institutes not only in Assam but in India as well. The admission is done through JEE

* Assam Engineering College :
It is the first Engineering college in northeast started in 1955 . Admission is through Common Entrance exam.

* National Institute of Technology:
Started in 1967, it is also one of the best engineering colleges in Assam and was ranked 57 by NIRF. Admission is through JEE mains . It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

*North Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya  :
It was started in 1973 and offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. It is one of the be s t universities in Northeast. Admission is through entrance exam.

* Regional Institute of Science and Technology:  it was started in 2009 and is recognised by AICTE and is affiliated to NEHU. Admission is through AIEEE or through common entrance exam conducted by institute.

You should also know that there is no Institute in Assam or Meghalaya that
provides undergraduate degree in Artificial Intelligence. If you do post graduate, then you will be able to focus on your area of specialisation . So far,for  the first time, B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence will be offered by Indian Institute of Hyderabad starting from the academic year 2019- 2020.

See machine learning and artificial intelligence are two separate topics which cannot be accomplished in a single stream. For machine learning h should be opting ELECTRICAL ENGG. and for artificial intelligence u should be having a knowledge of COMPUTER SCIENCE.

See u can opt for the core branch in good colleges like NITs or any other state colleges and doing the artificial intelligence course from other crash courses.
