Both branches of study have their independent importance.We can't compare them with number of students enrolling into respective branch.Commerce takes you for Economics,finance,banking etc & science for technology,innovation, imagination, etc.and engineering is totally different from it as you can become a scientist,software designer,eweb developer,etc.It's better to not compare them because it everyones interest in respective subject.So,both have their respective value.
