Hi Abhimanyu,

Earlier mostly IIM and many other universities used to offer PGDM degree. Now as per the law passed by the parliament they will also offer MBA degree. So the options where this difference in degree was there has reduced

In India there would be no such differentiation between MBA and PGDM degree but it would matter in case you go to some foreign countries. Because one is a degree and the other Diploma in terms of allotment.

So I think it's based on your future aspirations to choose among one

Thanks

Hello Abhimanyu, See Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) are both management courses at Master’s level. Both are business orientated courses. So, Based on your skill interest, you can opt the one...

The only Difference is - As per the law in India, only a University can offer degrees such as the MBA, BBA, B.Tech or B.E. Any educational institution which is not affiliated to a University cannot offer a degree. So institutes like IIMs, XLRI, NITIE, MDI etc. which are the autonomous bodies and run independently, cannot offer MBA degree and hence offer the PGDM / PGP.

MBABased on developing technical skills and business knowledge.Generally, MBA focuses more on theoretical aspects of management.

PGDMBased on Industry-specific needs.Generally, PGDM focuses more on building soft skills.

Hope this would help you to clear your doubt... For further query be free to contact.

All the best

MBA & PGDM both are good & business orientated courses. There is no difference when it comes to how the industry treats PGDM & MBA Graduates. Career growth is same in both of the programme, It is also depend on your skill & performance during the programme whether it is PGDM or MBA.

MBA is a degree course offered by the colleges affiliated by Universities and PGDM is a diploma course offered by institutes that are recognised by All India council for Technical Education & which are Autonomus and not affiliated to any university.

A student persuing MBA study will be studying more of the theoratical aspects of Management. An MBA institute follow a fixed curriculam as it will be based on universities guidlines.

A student pursuing PGDM course will be gaining knowledge regarding building soft skills & this programme is more industry oriented. An Autonomus institute does not have to follow university standards, so it is free to change its curriculam according to the industry standards and change in the business Environment.

Now the choice should be yours as per your interest but now a days most of the students prefer PGDM as it focus on skill based on market requirement.

Good Luck!
